Gioachino Rossini under 14? Seemingly a boy like any other... And yet, from a very young age, he lived extraordinary experiences in the world of music with his parents.

What are you waiting for to become protagonists of this magical reality? The Festival, in partnership with EBWorld, has created a special offer for all under 14s. Here are all the details.

Born in Pesaro in 1792, Gioachino Rossini began music lessons at the age of 8. The following year he played viola in the orchestra of the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano, where his mother, a singer, also performed. In 1802 he moved to Lugo, where he took lessons in cipher bass and composition.
In 1805 he made his debut as a singer in Camilla ossia Il sotterraneo by Ferdinando Paër at the Teatro del Corso in Bologna.
The following year, at the age of 14, he entered the Liceo Musicale in Bologna, in the cello and piano classes, and later in the counterpoint class. He sang alto in Mattei's oratorio La passione di Cristo and joined the Accademia Filarmonica in Bologna as a 'cantore': it was there that he first met Isabella Colbran, his future wife.
