La gazzetta, a rare title of the Rossini repertoire now in its second staging and its fourth presence at the Festival, is back at the ROF 2022. Dario Fo staged the opera for the first time in 2001, assisted by Arturo Corso, co-director, Francesco Calcagnini for the scenes and Paola Mariani for the costumes. Maurizio Barbacini conducted the Orchestra del Festival and the Coro da Camera di Praga The cast was formed by Bruno Praticò (Don Pomponio), Stefania Bonfadelli (Lisetta), Pietro Spagnoli (Filippo), Marisa Martins (Doralice), Christophoros Stamboglis (Anselmo), Antonino Siragusa (Alberto), Laura Polverelli (Madama la Rose) and Giampiero Ruggeri (Monsù Traversen).
The staging was revived in 2005 at the Auditorium Pedrotti, with Antonello Allemandi conducting the Orquesta Sinfónica de Galicia and the Coro da Camera di Praga. The cast, almost completely renewed since 2001, with the exception of Bruno Praticò (Don Pomponio), included Cinzia Forte (Lisetta), Lorenzo Regazzo (Filippo), Francesca Provvisionato (Doralice), Andrea Porta (Anselmo), José Manuel Zapata (Alberto), Manuela Custer (Madama la Rose) and Paolo Bordogna (Monsù Traversen).

In 2015, Marco Carniti presented a new production of the opera, with scenes by Manuela Gasperoni and costumes by Maria Filippi. Enrique Mazzola conducted the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna. The singers were Nicola Alaimo (Don Pomponio), Hasmik Torosyan (Lisetta), Vito Priante (Filippo), Raffaella Lupinacci (Doralice), Dario Shikhmiri (Anselmo), Maxim Mironov (Alberto), Josè Maria Lo Monaco (Madama la Rose) and Andrea Vincenzo Bonsignore (Monsù Traversen), as well as Ernesto Lama as the servant Tommasino. The staging, with new performers will be revived this summer at the ROF 2022.
