Tatarintsev opens the Concerti di Belcanto

The Concerti di Belcanto (Bel Canto Concerts) return to delight the Festival audiences, who eagerly await them.  The series will be inaugurated by Alexey Tatarintsev, the admired Éliézer in Moïse et Pharaon, who will give a concert on the 14th August at 4.00 p.m. at the Teatro Rossini.  The programme includes music by Rossini, Bellini, Rubinstein, Donizetti and Rachmaninov.  He will be accompanied at the piano by Giulio Zappa.

The tenor Alexey Tatarintsev, born in the Tambon region of Russia, studied Choral Conducting before winning his diploma in singing at the Victor Popov Academy of Choral Arts, Moscow.  He has been a resident artist of the Novaya Opera of Moscow since 2008.  His repertoire includes lyric tenor rôles from Rossini to Puccini, among them Ramiro (La Cenerentola), Count Almaviva (Il barbiere di Siviglia), Belfiore (Il viaggio a Reims), Nemorino (L’elisir d’amore), Ernesto (Don Pasquale), Alfredo (La traviata), the Italian Singer (Der Rosenkavalier), Rodolfo (La bohème), Lensky (Eugene Onegin), the young gypsy (Aleko), Lykov (The Tsar’s Bride), Vladimir Igorevich (Prince Igor).

He made his début at the Bolshoi theatre in the world première of The Cherry Orchard by Philippe Fénelon.  He is a regular guest singer at the Bolshoi Theatre  and at the Marinskij Theatre, both of St. Petersburg.  He played Count Almaviva in the Barbiere di Siviglia at the Savonlinna Festival in 2019.  His future engagements include Rigoletto at the Opéra national of Lorraine and at the Grand Théâtre de la Ville, Luxemburg.

The remaining three in the series of Concerti di belcanto will take place on the 17th August (soloist Jack Swanson), the 19th August (soloist Anna Bonitatibus) and the 20th August (soloist Nino Machaidze) at 4.00 p.n. at the Teatro Rossini as before.
