The Rossini Opera Festival bases its activities on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. It is an action programme for people, planet and prosperity signed in September 2015 by the governments of the 193 UN member countries. It incorporates 17 Sustainable Development Goals into a grand programme of action with a total of 169 targets.

The Development Goals follow up on the achievements of the Millennium Development Goals that preceded them, and represent common goals on a set of important development issues: fighting poverty, eradicating hunger and combating climate change, to name but a few.

The Festival has set out on a path towards a necessary ecological transition through a sustainable event certification process, the Ecoevents certification, based on the three pillars of environmental, social and economic sustainability. The project, which consists of a protocol of 115 good practices, was implemented in collaboration with Ambiente e Salute Società Benefit, a company specialised in the green sector. The certification was issued in agreement with the technical-scientific committee of Legambiente Nazionale, which guarantees the entire procedure.
