Tra rondò e tournedos to celebrate Pizzi

The ROF 2022 will come to an end on Sunday 21st August at 8.30 p.m. at the Vitrifrigo Arena, with Tra Rondò e Tournedos, a Gala performance celebrating Pier Luigi Pizzi’s 40 years at the ROF.  During the course of the evening, Pier Luigi Pizzi will be designated an Honorary Citizen of the town of Pesaro.

During his constant presence at the Rossini Opera Festival, since 1982  this Milanese artist has staged 13 new productions, several times revived, making up a total of  22 productions, revived in various theatres both in Italy and abroad.  During the evening he will be seen onstage conversing with Luigi Ferrari, Artistic Director of the Festival from 1992 to 2000,  in a setting devised by  Massimo Gasparon.  Diego Matheuz will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica della Rai and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso, with a cast of singers consisting of Eleonora Buratto, Monica Bacelli, Maria Laura Iacobellis, Maria Kataeva, Aya Wakizono, Dmitry Korchak, Giorgio Caoduro, Nahuel Di Pierro, Giorgi Manoshvili and Matteo Roma. Vasilisi Berzhanskaya will be unable to appear for health reasons.  The Festival is grateful to Monica Bacelli and Maria Kataeva for agreeing to appear.

The programme will include numbers from the many operas produced by Pizzi in the course of his four decades at the ROF: Tancredi, Mosé in Egitto, Le Comte Ory, Maometto II, Bianca e Falliero, Guillaume Tell, La pietra del paragone, Le nozze di Teti e di Peleo, Il barbiere di Siviglia, Moïse et Pharaon.
