World premiere of three Cantatas in critical edition

The 46th Rossini Opera Festival presents one of its most anticipated events on Sunday 17 August at 3:30 p.m. at Teatro Rossini: three cantatas for solo voice, chorus and orchestra. Il pianto d’Armonia sulla morte d’Orfeo and La morte di Didone, both previously performed at the ROF, will be heard for the first time in their new critical editions prepared by the Fondazione Rossini. Completing the programme is the world première of Il Pianto delle Muse in morte di Lord Byron, also presented in a critical edition. The cantatas will be conducted by Cesare Della Sciucca, leading the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini and the Coro del Teatro Ventidio Basso, with soloists Giuliana Gianfaldoni and Dave Monaco.
