Concert of Teresa Iervolino

The cycle of Concerti di Belcanto [Bel Canto Concerts] will be inaugurated on the 19th August at 4.00 p.m. at the Teatro Sperimentale by Teresa Iervolino, accompanied at the pianoforte by Giulio Zappa. This mezzo-soprano, returning to the Festival after having played the rôle of Lucia in La gazza ladra in 2015 and Ernestina in L’equivoco stravagante in 2019, will sing numbers from operas and from the Péchés de vieillesse by Gioachino Rossini.

The programme includes the Recitative “Oh patria!” and Cavatina of Tancredi “Tu che accendi questo core…Di tanti palpiti” from Tancredi; Andromaca’s Cavatina “Mia delizia! Un solo istante” from Ermione; from the Péchés de vieillesse: Vol. V Album pour les enfants adolescents N° 5. Valse lugubre for piano solo; Vol. XI Miscellanée de musique vocale N° 2. La Chanson du Bébé; Vol.II Album français N° 7. Le Dodo des enfants, N° 5. Chanson de Zora, La Petite Bohémienne; Vol. VI Album pour les enfants adolescents N° 7. L’Innocence italienne.  La Candeur française for piano solo; Ciro’s Aria “T’abbraccio, ti stringo” from Ciro in Babilonia;  Arsace’s  Recitative “Eccomi alfine in Babilonia” and Cavatina “Ah! quel ognor rammento” from Semiramide.

The mezzo-soprano Teresa Iervolino was born in Rome and won her diploma at the Conservatorio Cimarosa, Avellino with the highest marks.  In 2012 she was declared winner among the beginners at the AsLiCo and with that organization she appeared in various opera productions in Lombardy. In 2012 she won the first prize and the special G. Frazzoni and A. Colzani prizes at the City of Bologna competition.  The City of Bologna then involved a course held by Cinzia Forte and Francesco Micheli.  Later she won the first prize at the Concorso Salicedoro 2012 and also at the Maria Caniglia competition 2012.  In 2013 she won the AsLiCo competition for the rôle of Tancredi, and the first prize at the Etta Limiti competition.  Among her recent engagements we might mention Lucrezia Borgia at Bilbao and at the Salzburg Festival, La gazza ladra at La Scala, La Cenerentola at the Paris Opéra and at Piacenza, Juditha triumphans at Amsterdam, and Nabucco in Amsterdam.

The second appointment with the Concerti di Belcanto will take place on the 21st of August at 4.00 p.m., at the Teatro Sperimentale and will feature Enea Scala.
