The tenor Maxim Mironov was born in Tula and graduated at the Gnessin State Musical College of Moscow under the guidance of Professor Dmitry Vdovin.  He  became a member of the Helikon Opera House of Moscow and won the “New Voices” prize.  He has worked with such important conductors as Zedda, Renzetti, Abbado, Campanella, Rousset, Pidò, Jurowski, Mariotti, Scimone, López-Cobos, Noseda, Arrivabeni, Frizza, Jacobs, Ferro and with such stage directors as Pizzi, Fo, Servillo, Michieletto, Grinda, Morassi, Deflo, Miller, Del Monaco, Abbado, Brook, Asagaroff, P. Hall, Vizioli, Fischer, Livermore.  While very young he made his début in Moscow in Grétry’s Pierre le Grand.  His vast repertoire includes many Rossini works (Il viaggio a Reims, La scala di seta, Maometto II, Il Barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola, Otello, La gazzetta, L’Italiana in Algeri, Ricciardo e Zoraide, Il Turco in Italia).

Born in Greece, George Petrou follows the career of both pianist and conductor with great success.  His repertoire ranges from the classic to the Romantic periods, with particular interest in the baroque repertoire: his recording of Tamerlano with the MDG was awarded the prestigious Echo Klassik prize for the “disc of the year 2008”.  He has performed as piano soloist at the Barbican Hall, the Carnegie Recital Hall, the Berlin Philharmonie, and has recrded for the following important radio stations: BBC3, Deutschland Radio and the Radio de la Suisse Romande.  He has worked with such orchestras as the Philharmonia, the Orchestra national du Capitole de Toulouse, the Tchaikovsky Orchestra of Moscow Radio.  Among his future engagements are: Le siège de Corinthe at Athens; La donna del lago at Zagreb; Il barbiere di Siviglia at Cologne; Orlando furioso at the Teatro Real, Madrid; Lucio Silla at the Bolshoi, Moscow; La Griselda at the Festival of Martina Franca; Giulio Cesare at Enschede;  Il Trionfo del tempo e del disinganno at Karlsruhe.

The last in the series of Concerti lirico-sinfonici will he given on the 21st August (soloist Erwin Schrott) at 3.30 p.m., again at the Teatro Rossini.
