The ROF at the Di Stefano Prize

ROF Intendant Ernesto Palacio will chair the jury of the "Giuseppe Di Stefano" International Opera Competition, organised since 1994 by the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese and dedicated to the great Sicilian tenor. The competition, scheduled from April 26th to 30th, is up for grabs the main roles in one of the operas in the Ente's 2023 Summer Season programme: Il barbiere di Siviglia, directed by Daniele Agiman.
Over time, the competition has launched the international careers of singers who have become famous, such as the Greek soprano Dimitra Theodossiou (among the winners of the second edition in 1995), tenor Antonino Siragusa (1996 edition) and baritone Nicola Alaimo (1997 edition).
The jury for this edition, chaired by the ROF's Intendant, will include Dietmar Kerschbaum, tenor and general director of the Brucknerhaus and Linz International Festival; Jochen Schönleber, artistic director of the Rossini in Wildbad Festival in Bad Wildbad; and Giuseppe Cuccia, Opera Production consultant of the China National Centre for the Performing Arts (NCPA) Beijing; Simone Di Crescenzo, pianist, musicologist expert in Belcanto, organiser and artistic coordinator of the Toscanini Festival and the Arturo Toscanini International Competition for young conductors; Marco Iezzi, head of the artistic agency BJM Management; Micaela Carosi, Ugo Guagliardo, Patrizia Pace, Elizabeth Smith, internationally renowned opera singers and teachers; Walter Roccaro, pianist, teacher, former director of the Conservatory and current artistic director of the Ente Luglio Musicale Trapanese.
