Sunday, February 27 at 20 at the Teatro della Fortuna in Fano, in the framework of the celebrations for Rossini’s Birthday, Tancredi will be proposed in concert form in collaboration with the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini.

The ROF stages for the first time in Fano a musical production of its own: a significant choice in the context of Pesaro’s candidacy for Italian Capital of Culture 2024, a project that involves the whole territory.

Tancredi, a heroic melodrama in two acts to a libretto by Gaetano Rossi, was premiered at the Teatro La Fenice in Venice on 6 February 1813. The subject is taken from the tragedy Tancrède (1760) by Voltaire. Rossini extensively reworked the opera twice, for the performance at the Teatro Comunale in Ferrara on Lent 1813 and, in the autumn of the same year, for the Teatro Re in Milan. The work will be performed in its first version with a happy ending.

The story is set at the turn of the year 1000 in Syracuse, theater of the war between the Saracens and the Byzantines, and of the love between Amenaide and Tancredi. Unjustly driven out of the city, Tancredi returns in disguise: betrayal, war and revenge spur the young man to lead the Syracusans to victory,

Daniele Agiman will conduct a cast composed by Giuliana Gianfaldoni (Amenaide), Maria Barakova (Tancredi), Sergey Romanovsky (Argirio), Nicolò Donini (Orbazzano), Nutsa Zakaidze (Isaura) and Marta Pluda (Roggiero), along with the Chorus of the Teatro della Fortuna .
