ROF Talks 2025

The ROF Talks are back! These events characterise the first three days of the festival. Each event addresses a topical issue and presents the opera that will be performed in the theatre that evening. These three events will be held in the Sala della Repubblica at the Teatro Rossini and hosted by Susanna Franchi, a journalist from Rai Radio3.
On Sunday 10 August at 11:30 am, Giacomo Sagripanti and Calixto Bieito will discuss Zelmira, the festival’s opening opera. The 44th edition of the Abbiati Award, known as the Oscars of classical music in Italy, will be presented by the Association of Music Critics at 12 noon. The ROF is among the winners, having won the award for the best performance last year with Ermione.
On Monday 11 August at 12 noon, the programme for the 2026 Rossini Opera Festival will be announced. At 12:30 pm, Christopher Franklin and Laurence Dale will introduce La cambiale di matrimonio and the Soirées Musicales.
On Tuesday 12 August at 12 noon, there will be a meeting entitled ‘Educare all’Opera’ (Educating to the Opera), addressing the theme of educating young people about opera. Speakers will include Barbara Minghetti (Opera Domani), Vania Cauzillo (Reseo) and Elisabetta Garilli from the eponymous atelier. This will be followed at 12.30 pm by a presentation by Dmitry Korchak and Rosetta Cucchi, who will introduce L’Italiana in Algeri.
