The Rossini Opera Festival returns to Mascate (Oman) for the fourth of Rossini’s five farces in partnership with the Royal Opera House Muscat: La cambiale di matrimonio, seen at the ROF 2020 in Laurence Dale’s staging, with sets and costumes by Gary McCann and lighting by Ralph Kopp, co-produced with the Royal Opera House Muscat.
The opera will be premiered in the new critical edition edited by Eleonora Di Cintio on November 24th at 7 p.m. (local time). Alessandro Bonato will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini. The cast includes Alfonso Antoniozzi (Tobia Mill), Dilyara Idrisova (Fannì), Davide Giusti (Edoardo Milfort), Davide Luciano (Slook), Aleksandr Utkin (Norton) and Martiniana Antonie (Clarina). The second performance will take place on November 26th at 4pm.
Pre-Performance Talks, listening guides for the evening’s audience organised by the Educational and Outreach Department of the Royal Opera House Muscat, will be introducing both performances one hour before the beginning at the theatre’s Maidan Hall.
Between the two opera performances, the concert of Rossini duets and arias Homage to the Swan of Pesaro will take place on November 25th at 7pm. Nikolas Naegele will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini. The cast will include Salome Jicia, Raffaella Lupinacci, Pietro Adaíni and Grigory Shkarupa. The tour is part of the Omani theatre’s Educational programme, articulated in a series of other important events that have the ROF as their protagonist: a Lunch music concert in the theatre’s Opera Galleria and five concert-workshops held by Daniele Carnini, Editorial Director of the Rossini Foundation, for students from Omani universities, all with the participation of young singers who were alumni of the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”.
