ROF for everyone
Gioachino Rossini under 30? Seemingly a young man like any other… And yet, since childhood, he and his parents have had extraordinary experiences in the world of music.
What are you waiting for to enter this magical reality as a protagonist? The Festival, in partnership with EBWorld, has created a special offer for those under 30. Here are all the details.
On the eve of his 24th birthday, after the fiasco of the premiere, Rossini scored a resounding success with Il barbiere di Siviglia at the Teatro Argentina in Rome on 20 February. He continued his engagement in Naples with the opera seria Otello. The following year, he divided his time between Naples, Rome and Milan with the production of three different masterpieces: La Cenerentola, La gazza ladra and Armida. He returned to Naples in 1818 with Mosè in Egitto, which was a great success, and Ricciardo e Zoraide. Four more serious operas were added to Rossini’s catalogue: Ermione and La donna del lago (Naples), Bianca and Falliero at La Scala, Eduardo e Cristina (Venice). Maometto II and Matilde di Shabran followed in 1820-21. Zelmira ended Rossini’s Neapolitan period and a month later, at the age of thirty, he married Isabella Colbran in Castenaso.
