Return of the Incontri

Further meetings are announced  in the series Incontri organized by the Fondazione Rossini on the occasion of the Rossini Opera Festival.  On Tuesday 8th August at 11.00 a.m. at the Sala della Repubblica, a first lecture will be dedicated to Eduardo e Cristina, the inaugural opera of the 44th edition of the ROF, which will be staged on Friday 11th August at the Vitrifrigo Arena in the first modern performance of the Fondazione Rossini’s critical edition.  The staging is by Stefano Poda and the conductor will be Jader Bignamini.  The opera will be introduced by the editors of the critical edition of the opera, Alice Tavilla and Andrea Malnati, as well as Ilaria Narici, Direttore scientifico and Director of the critical editions of the Fondazione.

On Wednesday 9th August at 11.00 at the Sala della Repubblica Daniele Carnini, Direttore editoriale of the Fondazione Rossini, will offer a listener’s guide to Aureliano in Palmira.  The opera will be performed on Saturday 12th August at the Vitrifrigo Arena in Mario Martone’s 2014 production, winner of the International Opera Awards, conducted by George Petrou.

To complete the conversations upon  the operas on this year’s programme, on Thursday 10th August at 11.00 at the Sala della Repubblica Ilaria Narici and Simone Di Crescenzo, pianist, musicologist and researcher into Bel canto, will introduce Adelaide di Borgogna, the second new production of the Festival, programmed for Sunday 13th August with production by Arnaud Bernard and conducted by Francesco Lanzillotta. The conversation is  realized with the collaboration of Classica HD and Sky Channel 136.

To close this group of Incontri, on Sunday 13th August at 11.00 at the Museo Nazionale Rossini, Daniele Carnini will introduce Marco Beghelli, Professore ordinario in Musicologia e Storia della Musica at the University of Bologna, who will discourse on the Cantatas programmed for the Teatro Sperimentale: the Cantata in morte di M.F. Malibran will be conducted by Diego Ceretta on Monday 14th August as part of the Rossinimania series, while on Tuesday 15th the Cantata in onore del Sommo Pontefice Pio IX will be heard, conducted by Christopher Franklin.
