Il Viaggio a Reims by the Accademia Rossiniana
Il viaggio a Reims, the scenic cantata which has by now become a symbol of the Rossini Opera Festival, is back again and will be performed on the 15th and 18th August at 11.00 a.m. at the Teatro Rossini. As from 2001 the ROF, as part of the Festival Giovane (Young People’s Festival), offers Il viaggio as performed by young singers who have studied at the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”. This arduous test has allowed many of them to gain entrance to international theatres, beginning with the one in Pesaro, which will, this year, once again offer a place on the bill to thirteen ex-pupils.
The pupils of the 33rd edition of the Accademia, which was held from the 5th to the 19th July under the direction of the General Administrator Ernesto Palacio, will take leading rôles in the production invented by Emilio Sagi, with costumes by Pepa Ojanguren, rehearsed by Matteo Anselmi. The Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini, taking part in the ROF for the twentieth year, will be conducted by Luca Ballabio.
The cast of the two performances will be Iolanda Massimo and Pelageya Kurennaya (Corinna), Anna-Doris Capitelli (Marchesa Melibea), Haewon Lee (Contessa di Folleville), Annya Pinto (Madama Cortese), Alberto Robert and Valery Makarov (Cavalier Belfiore), Chuan Wang and Theodore Browne (Conte di Libenskof), Giorgi Manoshvili (Lord Sidney), Francesco Samuele Venuti and Alejandro Baliñas (Don Profondo), Yuriy Hazdetskyy and Francesco Samuele Venuti (Barone di Trombonok), Ramiro Maturana and Pasquale Greco (Don Alvaro), Ignas Melnikas (Don Prudenzio), Valery Markarov and Alberto Robert (Don Luigino), Pelageya Kurennaya and Iolanda Massimo (Delia), Javiera Saavedra (Maddalena), Jade Phoenix (Modestina), Theodore Browne and Chuang Wang (Zefirino/Gelsomino), Lorenzo Liberali (Antonio).
The two performances will be televised in direct streaming on the web site of the ROF and on the Festival Facebook page, in collaboration with the Pesaro Town Council and Amat. The performance on August 18th will be broadcast on Italiafestival.tv, in the frame work of Estate all’italiana Festival 2021.
