Rossini passed away in Paris on 13 November 1868 in his villa in Passy. Every year, the Festival and the Municipality of Pesaro have commemorated his anniversary. On 14 November 2018, to mark the 150th anniversary, the Petite messe solennelle was performed at the Grand Amphithéâtre of the Sorbonne University in Paris, the city where Rossini spent the last years of his life.

Alvise Maria Casellati conducted the Chœur régional Vittoria d'Île-de-France (Choirmasters Michel Piquemal and Boris Mychajliszyn) and a cast composed by Milla Mihova, Valeria Girardello, Matteo Roma and Roberto Lorenzi. At the piano Elisa Cerri and Marco Camillini, at the harmonium Lorenzo Antinori.
