Alberto Zedda was one of the key figures of our Festival. He was born on 2 January 1928 in Milan, where he had completed humanistic and musical studies. He won the RAI competition for conductors (1957) and climbed the world's most prestigious podiums. He devoted himself to didactics and musicology. He has been a member of the Editorial Committee of the Fondazione Rossini; Artistic Advisor of the Festival della Valle d'Itria and the Festival Mozart de La Coruña; Artistic Director of the Teatro Carlo Felice in Genoa, the Teatro alla Scala, the Baroque Festival in Fano and the P. Domingo Perfectioning Centre in Valencia.

Alberto Zedda has been a consultant and then artistic director of the ROF since its beginnings, a protagonist of the Rossini Renaissance and an unforgettable guide for a new generation of singers within the Accademia Rossiniana of the Rossini Opera Festival, which he conceived and directed since its foundation and was named after him since 2017, after his passing.
