Rossini in dialogue with Chopin

As part of the commemoration of the anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s death, the ROF has scheduled the concert Rossini and Chopin – A Romantic Dialogue, featuring pianist Alessandro Marangoni. The concert will be held on Saturday 15 November at 7 pm at the Teatro Sperimentale in Pesaro. Here is all the information you need to purchase tickets online. The box office will be open from Wednesday to Saturday from 5 pm to 7.30 pm.

Music by Rossini and Chopin will be performed: Rossini’s program includes Prelude inoffensive, La pésarèse, Barcarole, Une caresse à ma femme from Péchés de vieillesse, and Andantino mosso (an unpublished piece from 1863 in its world premiere); Chopin’s works will include Ballata n. 1  op. 23 in Sol min., Notturno in do diesis min., Scherzo n. 2 op. 31 in Si bem, min. – Re bem. magg., l’Andante spianato in Sol magg. and Grande polonaise brillante in Mi bem. magg.

Although they started out on different paths, Rossini and Chopin meet ideally in the piano, where writing becomes the setting for a romantic dialogue between two musical universes that are only apparently distant. On the one hand, there is Rossini, the genius of theatre who, having retired from the stage, poured all the freedom of his ironic and disenchanted thinking into his Péchés de vieillesse, in which the piano became his confessor; on the other, there is Chopin, the supreme poet of the instrument, who, in his intimately lyrical language, transfigures the classical form into pure emotion.
