Rossinimania in Paris
Rossinimania is the section that allows the Festival, each year, to break away from the usual conventions and make room for previously unheard musical repertoires and formats, historical transcriptions and unusual instrumental combinations through which to explore the music of Gioachino Rossini and the cultural world that surrounded him. This year, guitarist Eugenio Della Chiara will present a programme of extremely rarely performed works drawn from two collections, both published in the 1820s, by the transcribers Ferdinando Carulli and Matteo Carcassi. The programme will feature the Overtures from Tancredi, Semiramide, Armida and La gazza ladra (trans. F. Carulli), as well as the Air de danse Nos. 1 and 2 from Moïse et Pharaon (trans. M. Carcassi). The concert will take place on 15 August at 12 noon at the Teatro Rossini.
