Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino

The Rossini Opera Festival and the Accademia di Belle Arti di Urbino have launched a collaboration aiming at the further education of students, with the hope of helping them to choose their profession through direct experience of the work involved in mounting theatrical and operatic productions. Pupils from Prof. Francesco Calcagnini’s class in the faculty of scenography took part in realizing two productions from the Festival programme by designing costumes and scenery under the guidance (also didactic) of the stage director engaged for that opera, with striking results. In 2014 the pupils have designed and executed the entire production in semi-staged form, including the stage movements. Their work is documented in a daily updated blog.
