History

Crescendo per Rossini was born in 2010 thanks to a collaboration between the Rossini Opera Festival and the Rossini Foundation, with the support of the Municipality of Pesaro and the Province of Pesaro and Urbino.

The project began as an educational program for high school students in the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, gradually expanding to involve schools of all levels, from preschool to University. In 2017, a collaboration began with the Carlo Bo University of Urbino, and in 2019, a teacher training program was activated in cooperation with the Rossini Conservatory of Pesaro, the Laurana Baldi High School of Urbino, and the University for the Third Age, offering innovative methodologies to educators. In 2025, the school project expanded to include other provinces in the Marche and Veneto regions.

Over the years, the project has extended to broader social contexts through inclusive workshops that promote music as a tool for social cohesion and personal growth, involving socio-educational rehabilitation centers, social cooperatives, and non-profit organizations.

Since 2024, new ways of engaging young audiences have been introduced, such as the new app: ROF UP!, an interactive digital platform that reinterprets music education through video games and multimedia content. Created as part of the “Cenerentola #25” project for the 2023 Festival edition, the platform has become a permanent educational resource, adopted in preschools, primary schools, secondary schools, and at the University of Urbino. Successfully tested by over 6,000 students, it has helped to grow the participation of the under-30 audience at the Festival from 7% to 12.34%. This tool proves invaluable in schools as a “digital classroom companion” and in social programs.
