The documentary Sur les pas de Rossini, which France 5, the French public TV station specializing in cultural programmes, will broadcast on Sunday 23 March at 9.10 a.m., contains a lot about the Rossini Opera Festival. Shot in Italy and France last summer (a troop visited Pesaro during the final week of the Festival), the documentary was written by the poet, writer and musicologist Alain Dualt, who also reads the narration, and by the director Franck Chaudemanche.
In 52 minutes the whole life of the composer is gone through, from his earliest years in Pesaro to his death in his Paris villa in Passy. Among the interviews may be singled out those with the artistic director of the Rof, Alberto Zedda, and with Juan Diego Flórez, one of the undoubted stars of the international operatic world, who made his début here in Pesaro. Together with footage shot in Milan, Venice, Naples and Paris, numerous shots will show the town centre and Rossini’s birthplace; also included are some selections from Guillaume Tell, the main production in the most recent edition of the Festival.
