The 2019 will be a special year for the Rossini Opera Festival: the summer festival (11-23 August) will celebrate its fortieth edition with two new opera productions (Semiramide and L'equivoco stravagante), the revival of Demetrio e Polibio and a Gala with some of today's leading Rossini singers.

In addition to the summer program, this year the ROF will stage for the first time a new production of La cambiale di matrimonio as part of a young people’s project Festival Giovane: In the framework of Rossini's Unbirthday Week, we will be staging the latter on March 1 at 9 pm at the Teatro Rossini as a result of  a collaboration with AMAT, the G. Rossini State Conservatory of Music of Pesaro and the Academy of Fine Arts of Urbino, co-produced with the Teatro Lirico di Cagliari.

The staging was conceived by the School of Scenography of the Urbino Academy, directed by Francesco Calcagnini and Davide Riboli, with the collaboration of Emiliano Pascucci (Lighting Designer) and Paola Mariani (Costumes).

Alessandro Bonato will conduct the Rossini Conservatory Orchestra and a young talented cast composed by Nicolò Donini, Claudia Muschio, Anatolii Pogrebnyi, Carles Pachón (ex-students of the Accademia Rossiniana "Alberto Zedda"), Sergei Morozov and Mariangela Marini (students of the Rossini Conservatory).

In the same period, the Royal Opera House Muscat (Oman) will host on March 7 and 8 La scala di seta, a production staged in 2009 in Pesaro by Damiano Michieletto which was subsequently also seen at La Scala.

The staging, revived by Eleonora Gravagnola, will have Iván López-Reynoso conducting the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra and a cast composed by Marina Monzò, Laura Verrecchia, Paolo Bordogna, Pietro Adaini, Davide Giangregorio and Enrico Iviglia.

During the tour, ROF and ROH Muscat will organize workshops for theatrical technicians and educational activities with the students of the University of Muscat.

The partnership with the Omani Theater consists in a five year project involving the five one act  Rossini farces: after L’occasione fa il ladro in 2017 and the imminent La scala di seta, we have planned L’inganno felice in 2020 and the co-productions of La cambiale di matrimonio and Il signor Bruschino in 2021 and 2022.
