Il viaggio a Reims, the scenic cantata that has now become a symbol of the Rossini Opera Festival, returns to the Teatro Rossini on Friday 12th August at 11.00 a.m. (with a repeat performance on Monday 15th August at the same time). As from 2001 the Rof, as part of our young people’s festival (Festival Giovane), has offered Il viaggio performed by young singers who have studied at the Accademia Rossiniana. This arduous task has opened the doors of great international theatres to many of them, beginning with the Pesaro theatre, which this year will once more introduce numerous ex-pupils in the operas produced.

The production is the successful one by Emilio Sagi and rehearsed by Elisabetta Courir, with costumes by Pepa Ojanguren, that has also been seen at the Teatro Real, Madrid and the Florence May Festival. Maestro Gabriel Bebeselea will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini. The casts of the two evenings will consist of Lucrezia Drei and Eleonora Bellocci (Corinna), Aurora Faggioli and Vasilisa Berzhanskaya (Marchesa Melibea), Marina Monzò (Contessa di Folleville), Larissa Alice Wissel and Nao Nakai (Madama Cortese), Xabier Anduaga (Cavalier Belfiore), Yasuhiro Mamamoto and Yusuke Kabori (Conte di Libenskof), Ogulcan Yilmaz (Lord Sidney), Gianluca Lentini (Don Profondo), William Hernandez (Barone di Trombonok), Maharram Huseynov (Don Alvaro), Shuxin Li (Don Prudenzio), Yusuke Kobori and Yasuhiro Mamamoto (Don Luigino), Eleonora Bellocci and Lucrezia Drei (Delia), Diana Volkova (Maddalena), Sara Bañeras (Modestina), Alfonso Zambuto (Zefirino /Gelsomino) and Stefano Marchisio (Antonio).

This year again the first night of Il viaggio a Reims may be seen in live streaming on the web site www.rossinioperafestival.it and on the Festival’s YouTube channel, in collaboration with the Pesaro Town Council and Amat.
