On Monday 17th July at 8.00 p.m. the traditional closing concert at the Teatro Sperimentale will bring the XXIX Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda” to an end. The Academy is named after the Milanese maestro who has directed the Accademia since its foundation in 1989.
The 2017 edition of the Accademia, directed by Ernesto Palacio, featured 19 fully effective pupils, Onto the stage of the Teatro Sperimentale will step the sopranos Noluvuyiso Mpofu (Sud Africa), Marigona Qerkezi (Kossovo), Beatriz De Sousa (Portogallo), Sofia Mchedlishvili (Georgia), Francesca Tassinari (Italia) and Giorgia Paci (Italia); the mezzo-sopranos Martiniana Antonie (Romania) and Valeria Girardello (Italia); the tenors Ruzil Gatin (Russia), Emmanuel Faraldo (Argentina), Yury Rostotsky (Russia), Oscar Oré (Perù) and Alasdair Kent (Australia); the bass-baritones Michael Borth (Germania), Gurgen Baveyan (Armenia), Daniele Antonangeli (Italia), Elcin Huseynov (Azerbaigian), Francesco Auriemma (Italia) and Roberto Lorenzi (Italia). To these will be added the Russian tenor Aleksandr Utkin, who has followed the lessons of the Accademia as part of the programme of student grants organized by the Italian embassy in Moscow.
The programme of the concert will obviously feature pieces by Rossini, accompanied at the pianoforte by Rubén Sánchez-Vieco, who is also the Accademia’s Coordinatore musicale.
Tickets (priced 10 euros each) will be on sale on the day of the concert at the Teatro Rossini at the following times: 10-12 a.m.; 4.00-6.30 p.m. and from 7.00 p.m. at the Teatro Sperimentale (information: 0721.3800294).
The pupils of the Accademia Rossiniana will also take part in Il viaggio a Reims, which will be staged at the Teatro Rossini on the 14th and 16th August, all of these performances being part of the Festival Giovane of the XXXVIII edition of the Rossini Opera Festival.
