The Accademia Rossiniana begins tomorrow

Tomorrow, Friday the 6th July, at the Teatro Sperimentale, the Accademia Rossiniana will begin operations. This is a permanent seminar of studies on the problems of modern bel canto interpretation, under the direction of Alberto Zedda, sponsored by the Peter Moores Foundation. The Accademia, following a well-tried formula, offers pupils and audiences lessons in vocal interpretation and acting, lectures on apposite subjects, master classes and meetings with the artists engaged to sing in the operas mounted by the Rossini Opera Festival.

The 2012 edition of the Accademia will be followed  by 20 students and 35 auditors, chosen from among more than 200 requests for admission and hailing from Brazil, Bulgaria, Canada, South Korea, Equador, France, Japan, Germany, Georgia, Italy, Kazakhistan, Peru, Roumania, Russia, the United States, Hungary and Uzbekistan. Apart from the lessons and master classes held by Alberto Zedda with the assistance of Lanfranco Marcelletti and the musical support of Anna Bigliardi, the programme envisages contributions from Gianfranco Mariotti, the Sovrintendente of the Festival (Rossini, the enigma), Ilaria Narici, Director of the Critical Edition emanating from the Fondazione Rossini (critical editions and performers), the stage directors Mario Martone (my work as an opera producer) and Elisabetta Courir (Moments of interpretation and improvisation), from  the costume designer Nanà Cecchi (stages  and costumes; their rôle in interpretation), from the Rossini Opera Festival’s head of make-up Luca Oblach (The adventure of make-up), the essayist Sonia Arienta (Rossinian landscapes, visual, aural and lived in), from the physiotherapist Frank Musarra (Physiotherapy and singing) and from the ear, nose and throat specialist Franco Fussi (How familiarity with the resonators helps  vocal tone: physiology and prevention), besides meetings with the casts of the three main operatic productions of the 2012 Rossini Opera Festival.

The course will end, on Saturday 21st July at 8.00 p.m., with the usual Final Concert, during which the pupils, accompanied al the piano by Anna Bigliardi, will sing music from Il viaggio a Reims and other Rossini operas. Some of the soloists from the Accademia Rossiniana will sing, on the following day, Sunday 22nd July at 8.00 p.m., in a concert event at Villa Matarazzo (Gradara). The box-office takings of the concert, which will be attended by all the leading authorities from the province and well-known personalities from the economic and cultural worlds, will go to further the work of  IOPRA – the Istituto Oncologico Pesarese ‘Raffaele Antoniello’. For further information: 0721.32230.

The young singers of the Accademia Rossiniana will also take part in Il viaggio a Reims, which will be staged at the Teatro Rossini on the 14th and 17th of August in the framework of the Youth Festival of the XXXIII edition of the Rossini Opera Festival.
