Il barbiere di Siviglia, conducted by Alberto Zedda, will solemnly celebrate Gioachino Rossini’s birthday on Monday the 29th February at 8.30 p.m. at the Teatro Rossini. The event, in concert form, has been organized by the Conservatorio Rossini, the Accademia Rossiniana of the Rossini Opera Festival, the town council of Pesaro, AMAT and the Fondazione Rossini.
Maestro Zedda, author of the critical edition of the opera, the bi-centenary of whose first performance also falls now, will conduct the Orchestra and Chorus of the Conservatorio Rossini.
The cast includes some of the most brilliantly promising young singers emerging from the most recent editions of the Accademia Rossiniana: Sunnyboy Dladla (Count Almaviva), Filippo Fontana (Bartolo), Cecilia Molinari (Rosina), Yunpeng Wang (Figaro), Dimitri Pkhaladze (Basilio). They will be joined by some of the best pupils from the Conservatorio Rossini singing classes: Giorgia Paci (Berta), Li Shuxin (Fiorello), Giuseppe Lamicela (Ambrogio) and Xue Tao (an officer).
