The ROF continues its collaboration with the Royal Opera House Muscat (Oman), which will host in the Omani capital on March 7 and 8 La scala di seta, production staged in 2009 in Pesaro by Damiano Michieletto and then at Teatro alla Scala.
The production will be revived by Eleonora Gravagnola. Iván López-Reynoso will conduct the G. Rossini Symphony Orchestra and a cast which includes Marina Monzó (Giulia), Laura Verrecchia (Lucilla), Paolo Bordogna (Germano), Pietro Adaini (Dorvil), Davide Giangregorio (Blansac) and Enrico Iviglia (Dormont).
ROF and ROH Muscat will also organize workshops for theatrical technicians and educational activities for students of the University of Muscat.
La scala di seta, comic farce in one act on a libretto by Giuseppe Foppa, was performed for the first time at the Teatro San Moisè in Venice on 9 May 1812. The story tells the contrasted love between Giulia, pupil of the old Dormont, and Dorvil, married unbeknownst to her guardian, who had promised her to Blansac. With the help of her servant Germano, Giulia manages to marry Blansac with her cousin Lucilla, and Dormont blesses the union between Giulia and Dorvil.
