The 2019 ROF program

Two new productions (Semiramide and L'equivoco stravagante; the revival of the extremely rare Demetrio e Polibio; Il viaggio a Reims starring the students of the Accademia Rossiniana "Alberto Zedda"; a celebratory Gala with some of the greatest Rossinian singers; the Cantata La riconoscenza; the Soirées musicales; two lyrical-symphonic concerts; two Belcanto Concerts; a new episode of the Rossinimania cycle: this is the rich program of the fortieth edition of the Rossini Opera Festival, scheduled in Pesaro from 11 to 23 August 2019.

Semiramide will be staged at the Vitrifrigo Arena (ex-Adriatic Arena) on 11, 14, 17 and 20 August at 20. Michele Mariotti will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI and the Choir of the Teatro Ventidio Basso. The production is signed by Graham Vick, with scenes and costumes by Stuart Nunn. In the cast, Salome Jicia in the title role and, alongside her, Varduhi Abrahamyan, Nahuel Di Pierro, Antonino Siragusa, Martiniana Antonie, Carlo Cigni, Alessandro Luciano and Sergey Artamonov. The staging is coproduced with Opéra Royal de Wallonie.

Demetrio and Polibio is scheduled for 12, 15, 18 and 23 August at 20 at the Teatro Rossini. The production, applauded in Pesaro in 2010, will be directed by Paolo Arrivabeni at the head of the Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini and the Choir of the Teatro della Fortuna M. Agostini. Directed by Davide Livermore, scenes and costumes of the Accademia di Belle Arti of Urbino. The cast includes Jessica Pratt, Cecilia Molinari, Juan Francisco Gatell and Riccardo Fassi.

We return to the Vitrifrigo Arena (13, 16, 19 and 22 August 20) for the second new production of the ROF 2019: L’equivoco stravagante, created by Moshe Leiser and Patrice Caurier, with scenes by Christian Fenouillat and costumes by Agostino Cavalca. Carlo Rizzi will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI and the Choir of the Teatro Ventidio Basso. In the cast, Teresa Iervolino, Paolo Bordogna, Davide Luciano, Pavel Kolgatin, Claudia Muschio and Manuel Amati.

The fourth lyric production is Il viaggio a Reims (18 and 20 August at the Teatro Rossini), starring the students of the Accademia Rossiniana "Alberto Zedda" (already interpreters of the final concert of the courses on 22 July). The production, conceived in 2001 by Emilio Sagi with the costumes of Pepa Ojanguren, will see the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini performing under the guidance of Nikolas Nägele.

Alongside the opera program, we find a rich series of concerts: the Cantata La riconoscenza (August 14), with Donato Renzetti guiding the Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini and the Choir of the Teatro della Fortuna M. Agostini, with Carmela Remigio, Victoria Yarovaya, Ruzil Gatin and Mirco Palazzi; le Soirées musicales orchestrated by Fabio Maestri, performed by the Filarmonica Gioachino Rossini conducted by Michele Spotti, in the cast Maria Laura Iacobellis, Valeria Girardello, Xabier Anduaga and Carles Pachón (August 16); two Concerti di Belcanto, with Angela Meade and Antonino Siragusa (17 and 22 August); two lyric-symphonic concerts, performed by the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini (the first, on August 19th, with Varduhi Abrahamyan and Jessica Pratt directed by Carlo Tenan, and the second, on August 23rd, with Anna Goryachova and Simone Alberghini conducted by Andrea Molino); and for Rossinimania, on August 15th, the Italian Harmonists.

Finally, on the occasion of the celebration of the fortieth edition of the ROF, on August 21st, the Gala ROF XL will be held at the Vitrifrigo Arena, directed by Carlo Rizzi leading the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale RAI and the Choir of the Teatro Ventidio Basso. In the cast: Nicola Alaimo, Paolo Bordogna, Lawrence Brownlee, Juan Diego Flórez, Ruzil Gatin, Alessandro Luciano, Mirco Palazzi, Michele Pertusi, Sergey Romanovsky, Erwin Schrott, Franco Vassallo, Valeria Girardello, Anna Goryachova, Angela Meade and Claudia Muschio.
