The 2018 is the year dedicated to celebrations of 150th anniversary of Gioachino Rossini’s death. This important edition of Rossini Opera Festival has been presented this morning at ENIT Rome Headquarter – The national tourism organization, with a particular and demanding program full of novelties than ever presented before and the announcement of next edition 2019 titles: Semiramide, L’equivoco stravagante and Demetrio e Polibio.
The main operas on the bill are all new productions and they will be staged from the 11th to the 23rd of August (Ricciardo e Zoraide, Adina and Il barbiere di Siviglia); furthermore there will be the Petite messe solennelle, Il viaggio a Reims by the pupils of the “Alberto Zedda” Accademia Rossiniana, and several other concerts and recitals.
To go more in details, Ricciardo e Zoraide will be conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti, with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso (chorus-master Giovanni Farina). Marshall Pynkoski is the Director, making his ROF debut, choreography by Jeannette Lajeunesse Zingg and sets by Gerard Gauci, costumes by Michael Gianfrancesco and lighting by Michelle Ramsay. The cast will consist of Juan Diego Flórez, Sergey Roamanovsky, Pretty Yende, Nicola Ulivieri, Victoria Yarovaya, Xabier Anduaga, Sofia Mchedlishvili, Martiniana Antonie and Ruzil Gatin.
With regard to Adina, a co-production with the Wexford Festival Opera, Diego Matheuz will make his first appearance in Pesaro conducting the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini and the M. Agostini Chorus of the Teatro della Fortuna (chorus-master Mirca Rosciani). The production created by Rosetta Cucchi, with set design by Tiziano Santi, costumes by Claudia Pernigotti and lighting by Daniele Naldi. The voices of the cast belong to Vito Priante, Lisette Oropesa, Levy Sekgapane, Matteo Macchioni and Davide Giangregorio.
The third new production will be Il barbiere di Siviglia, conducted by Yves Abel at the head of the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso, conducted by Pier Luigi Pizzi assisted by Massimo Gasparon. The presence in the cast of the singers Maxim Mironov, Pietro Spagnoli, Aya Wakizono, Davide Luciano, Michele Pertusi, Elena Zilio and William Corrò.
The program will be completed by Il viaggio a Reims by the pupils of the Accademia Rossiniana (conducted by Hugo Carrio, staged by Emilio Sagi); then the concerts by Lisette Oropesa, Eleonora Buratto, Michele Pertusi and Carlo Lepore; an evening dedicated to Grandi scene rossiniane, with Nicola Alaimo introduced by Remo Girone, directed by Michele Spotti; Cabaret Rossini with Massimo Ranieri, Antonio Ballista at the piano and the singers Anna Bonitatibus, Sofia Mchedlishvili and Ruzil Gatin. The closing night will be the Petite messe solennelle conducted by Giacomo Sagripanti, with the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the M. Agostini Chorus of the Teatro della Fortuna, with Carmela Remigio, Daniela Barcellona, Celso Abelo and Nicolas Courjal.
