The latest edition of ‘Rossinimania’ will take place on Tuesday 19 August at 11.00 a.m. at the Auditorium Pedrotti. This year’s re-elaboration of Rossini’s music is proposed by the trumpeter and composer Giovanni Falzone. He will lead his own regular quartet of musicians, le Mosche elettriche [the electric flies]: Valerio Scrignoli (electric guitar), Danilo Gallo (electric bass) and Riccardo Tosi (percussion).
The project, entitled Radio Rossini, has been realized and performed - for the first time anywhere – especially for the Rossini opera Festival and produced by Musicamorfosi. It is a kind of crazy radio whose modulated frequency waves offer music by Gioachino Rossini: themes and fragments taken from works both sacred and profane by the great man of Pesaro, elaborated, mixed and arranged for a group midway between jazz and contemporary rock.
Giovanni Falzone is one of the leading figures in Italian and European jazz, but can also boast of long experience in classical music. Up to 2004 he played with the Orchestra Sinfonica di Milano and had the opportunity to play with leading international conductors and soloists (among others, Berio, Sinopoli, Abbado). In 2013 he was invited to the MITO festival with Sempre Verdi, a concert inspired by the notes of Verdi’s Requiem performed by an orchestra of eleven players and two opera singers at the Milan Monumental cemetery.
