On Sunday 14th August at the Teatro Rossini at 4.00 p.m. Pretty Yende and Aya Wakizono, together with the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini, conducted by Marco Alibrando, will take part in a concert entitled Duetti amorosi.  The programme, entirely composed of Rossini’s music, will include excerpts from Zelmira  (Duettino Zelmira – Emma “Perchè mi guardi, e piangi”), La scala di seta (Overture), Le Comte Ory (Air Comtesse “En proie à la tristesse”), La Cenerentola (Scena Cenerentola “Nacqui all’affanno, e al pianto”), La gazza ladra (Overture, Duet Ninetta-Pippo “E ben, per mia memoria”), Adelaide di Borgogna (Overture, Duet Adelaide-Ottone “Mi dai corona e vita”).

The soprano Pretty Yende was born at Piet Retief (South Africa) and was revealed to international audiences when she became the first to win all three prizes in the Belvedere Competition, after which, the following year, she won the first prize in Plácido Domingo’s Operalia Competition.  This year, after making her début at the Rossini Opera Festival in Ciro in Babilonia (Amira), she will be among the singers in the Flórez 20 concert.

The mezzo-soprano Aya Wakizono was born in Tokyo and is one of the talented singers who have recently graduated from the Accademia Rossiniana.  She took her Master of Opera Performance degree at the Tokyo Arts University.  She took part in Mariella Devia’s master class in Tokyo.  She was a semi-finalist in the Neue Stimmen 2013 competition.  She then came to Italy to continue her studies at the Conservatorio Boito, Parma.
