COVID 19, the pandemic which has severely hit our Country has affected the city of Pesaro particularly. For this reason the Rossini Opera Festival along with the municipality have decided to dedicate the pre-opening of the 41st edition of the ROF to the victims of this pandemic: Thursday August 6 at 8:30 pm in the Piazza del Popolo their will be a performance of the Petite Messe Solennelle, Rossini’s last sacred masterpiece. A touching celebration for a mourning that has been both collective and private. The entrance is free upon reservation.
The Mass will be performed in its original version for two pianos and a harmonium. Alessandro Bonato will direct the chorus of the Teatro della Fortuna M. Agostini( Chorus Master Mirca Rosciani), featuring Mariangela Sicilia(soprano), Cecilia Molinari( mezzosoprano), Manuel Amati (Tenor), and Mirco Palazzi(bass). Giulio Zappa and Ludovico Bramanti at the piano and Luca Scandali at the harmonium.
“Both the Sovrintendente Palacio and I had been thinking about how to commemorate properly the victims of this terrible virus” says the President of the ROF Daniele Vimini. “We wanted it to be a special moment, a token from the cultural institutions. The invitation to the performance will be extended to all the Mayors of the Marche region, representatives of the law enforcement, of the civil protection and the healthcare system along with the volunteer workers who were at the forefront of the battle against the pandemic".
“The Petite Messe Solennelle is a prefect score to commemorate what this Country had to endure” says the Sovrintendente of the ROF Ernesto Palacio. “With this masterpiece we can solemnly commence the 2020 season. We would like to thank the chorus of the Teatro della Fortuna which has also hosted the rehearsals”.
