The Municipality of Pesaro and the Municipality of Tempio Pausania have started a collaboration project, based on the central role that music plays in both cities: on the one hand Pesaro, the birthplace of Gioachino Rossini, Creative City Unesco of music, seat of the Rossini Opera Festival, the Accademia Rossiniana "Alberto Zedda", the Fondazione Rossini and the Conservatorio Rossini; on the other Tempio Pausania, the birthplace of the Rossini tenor Giovanni Manurita, the musicologist Gavino Gabriel and the tenor Bernardo De Muro, which is entitled the City Music Academy.
The meeting, in the presence of the Mayor of Tempio Pausania Gianni Addis and the Deputy Mayor of Pesaro Daniele Vimini, Councillor for Culture and President of the ROF, was a first step in the definition of a memorandum of understanding for the experimentation of forms of integrated exploitation in the fields of culture and tourism, starting from the signing of a Letter of Intent drawn up thanks to the close contacts between the two municipalities.
Among the various policy points proposed, the cities agree in the desire to define programmes, including multiannual programmes, in the cultural and tourism field, aimed at strengthening the attractiveness of the territories and the design of joint projects and initiatives, particularly in the field of lyric music and songwriting. On the occasion of the first institutional meeting between the two cities, Ernesto Palacio, Intendant and Artistic Director of the Rossini Opera Festival and Director of the Accademia Rossiniana "Alberto Zedda", held a masterclass of lyrical singing at the Teatro del Carmine in Tempio Pausania, as part of the project Culture Lab, aimed at the enhancement and internationalization of the tenor Bernardo De Muro promoted by the Music Academy dedicated to him and chaired by the conductor Fabrizio Ruggero. First belcantista tenor, then artistic manager and teacher, Ernesto Palacio has launched the careers of many leading singers and is considered one of the leading international vocal experts of Rossini.
The singers trained during the Masterclass will be part of an Opera Studio project dedicated to Rossini’s Cenerentola, which will be staged in the coming months in Tempio Pausania
