The third opera on the Rof programme for 2013 will have its turn on Monday 12th August at 8.00 p.m. at the Teatro Rossini: L’occasione fa il ladro (with repeat performances on the 15, 18 and 21 August at the same time), a production that was greeted ecstatically when it was first staged in Pesaro in 1987. The production, one of the last fruits of the genius of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle – among the twentieth-century masters of Rossini production – has been revived several times and, above all, imitated in its highly original simplicity. Sonja Frisell will once more undertake the rehearsal of the production.
After having conducted Il viaggio a Reims two years ago in the Festival Giovane, the Chinese lady conductor Yi-chen Lin will make her début in the main part of the Rof programme conducting the Orchestra Sinfonica G. Rossini. The brilliant cast includes Elena Tsallagova (who was discovered last year in Tancredi), two such favourites of Pesaro audiences as Roberto De Candia and Paolo Bordogna, and such promising young singers as Giorgio Misseri, Enea Scala and Viktoria Yarovaya.
