On Monday 20th August at 4.30 p.m. at the Auditorium Pedrotti, Michele Pertusi will give a recital in the Concerti di Belcanto series, accompanied at the pianoforte by Richard Barker.
The programme includes music by Haendel, Mozart, Rossini, Bellini, Field, Verdi, Mascagni, Ravel and Ibert.
The bass Michele Pertusi was born in Parma and has been acclaimed as one of the leading singers on the international operatic scene.
In 1995 he was awarded the Franco Abbiati prize. He has also won the Grammy Award and the Gramophone Award. He is now working with the greatest conductors, and appearing on the stages of the leading theatres of the world. A skilled Rossini singer, he has received the “Rossini d’oro” (Golden Rossini) prize for his successes in Pesaro.
As a constant star of the Rossini Opera Festival, in 1992 and 1994 he sang in Semiramide (Assur), in 1993 Maometto II (title-rôle), in 1995 Guillaume Tell (Title-rôle), in 1997 Il viaggio a Reims (Lord Sidney), in 2000 Le siège de Corinthe (Mahomet), in 2006 Torvaldo e Dorliska (Duca d’Ordow), in 2007 La gazza ladra (Gottardo), in 2008 Maometto II (title-rôle) and this year Il barbiere di Siviglia (Basilio).
