On Monday 21st August at 4.00 p.m. at the Auditorium Pedrotti, Margarita Gritskova will give a recital as part of the Concerti di Belcanto series, accompanied at the pianoforte by Ivan Demidov.
The programme includes numbers by Rossini (Tancredi’s Recitative and Cavatina “Oh patria!....Di tanti palpiti” from Tancredi; Rosina’s Cavatina “Una voce poco fa” from Il barbiere di Siviglia; Isabella’s Cavatina “Per lui che adoro” from L’Italiana in Algeri; the final Rondò “Nacquì all’affanno, e al pianto….Non più mesta” from La Cenerentola; Sigismondo’s Cavatina “Non seguirmi….omai t’invola” from Sigismondo; Elena’s Rondò “Tanti affetti” from La donna del lago) and by Mikhail Glinka (the Aria “L’iniquo voto”; Souvenir d’une Mazurka; Variations on Alijab’ev’s song The Nightingale; Ratmir’s Aria “I zhar i znoy s’menila notschi ten” from Ruslan e Ljudmila).
The mezzo-soprano Margarita Gritskova took her diploma at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire and has successfully taken part in numerous International concerts (among which Operalia and the Pavarotti Competition, Modena). She has sung Carmen at the St. Petersburg Conservatoire, conducted by Mariss Jansons, Salome at the Tenerife Opera, conducted by Oleg Caetani. She has been a soloist at the Weimar theatre, and then at the Vienna Opera, where she has sung Le nozze di Figaro, Il barbiere di Siviglia, La Cenerentola, Idomeneo and Anna Bolena (with Anna Netrebko). Her Salzburg début was made in Le nozze di Figaro, then she sang Sigismondo at the Rossini Festival, Wildbad, and Leonardo Vinci’s Catone in Utica at the Cologne Opera.
Among her important future engagements is her début at the Zürich Opera House in Massenet’s Werther with Piotr Beczala and in Mozart’s La finta giardiniera.
