The first instalment of the project Questions for the Opera will end on Saturday 30 May at 8.30 pm with the viewing of L’Italiana in Algeri on the ROF website. This on-line didactical activity is linked to the ROF educational project Crescendo per Rossini achieved with the assistance of Bravopera and the Fondazione Rossini (texts by Ilaria Narici and Mattia Palma) and in collaboration with Unitel and Ricordi sponsored by the Municipality of Pesaro. The opera will be available for the next 24 hours.
The performance we analyzed was the 2013 ROF production, staged by Davide Livermore (sets and lighting by Bicolas Bovey, costumes by Gianluca Falaschi), the Orchestra and Chorus of the Teatro Comunale di Bologna was conducted by José Ramón Encinar featuring a brilliant cast (Anna Goryachova, Alex Esposito, Yijie Shi, Davide Luciano, Mario Cassi, Mariangela Sicilia, Raffaella Lupinacci). The project lasted three weeks and consisted of five separate parts, for each part we provided a video, technical insights on the opera and an interview. We talked to Daniele Vimini, President of the ROF; Anna Goryachova, who sang the title role; Gianluca Falaschi, costume designer; Davide Livermore, stage director; Ilaria Narici, Scientific Curator of the Fondazione Rossini. We also provided introductory material such as the full libretto, various essays on the correlation between Cinema and stage direction, fashion industry and costume designing. The material will be available to everyone (schools, cultural associations ecc...) who wants to approach opera in depth.
