On Friday 10th August at 11.00 a.m. the opening concert of the XXXIII edition of the Rossini Opera Festival will take place at the Auditorium Pedrotti. The concert will feature the FORM-Orchestra Filarmonica Marchigiana, who will perform La bottega fantastica, a series of pieces paying homage to Gioachino Rossini, by such eminent composers as Benjamin Britten  (the suite Soirées  musicales, Op. 9), Azio Corghi (Suite Dodo for voice, flute and strings), and Ottorino Respighi (La boutique fantasque, ballet in one act).

FORM, an institution for orchestral concerts recognized by the Ministero dei Beni culturali (the ministry for cultural affairs), will be performing for the first time at the Festival under the bâton of Donato Renzetti, their resident conductor and artistic director, an authentic Rossinian and a familiar performer at the ROF. The soprano soloist will be Gemma Bertagnolli, who has already appeared at the ROF in two operatic productions (Ricciardo e Zoraide in 1996 and Die Schuldigkeit des Ersten Gebots in 2006) and in the pastiche All’idea di quel metallo (1996). The flute soloist will be Davide Formisano, making his Pesaro début, with a brilliant career in solo and chamber music already to his credit.
