The Rossini Opera Festival joins the mourning of Italian culture for the death of Bruno Cagli, one of the main protagonists of Rossini Renaissance and a constant presence alongside the event in the adventure of restoring Rossini's musical heritage to the world.
This is how Daniele Vimini, president of the Rossini Opera Festival remembers him: "From the beginning Bruno Cagli was a fundamental figure in the rediscovery of Gioachino Rossini's musical heritage, both as a member of the Editorial Board of the Rossini Foundation (with Alberto Zedda and Philip Gossett) who as a music consultant of the Municipality. He was also, for a year, an artistic consultant of the ROF before the arrival of Alberto Zedda, and then he dedicate all his unparalleled expertise to the Rossini Foundation. His passionate contribution to the Rossini renaissance will remain in history as one of the milestones of the long journey that has led Pesaro to achieve the recognition of the UNESCO Creative City of Music."
These are the words of the Honorary President Gianfranco Mariotti: "Bruno Cagli was an absolute protagonist of the Rossini Renaissance and the last member of the legendary Triad of the Rossini Foundation. I shared with Bruno, inside and outside the ROF, the whole long adventure of the rediscovery of the forgotten Rossini and I lived with him over the years joys and sorrows, disappointments and successes. I remember him with affection and nostalgia."
