GALA ROF XL to celebrate forty years of history

In celebration of the fortieth edition of the Rossini Opera Festival, on Wednesday 21st August  at 8.30 p.m. the Gala ROF XL will be held at the Vitrifrigo Arena, a concert in which Carlo Rizzi will conduct the Orchestra Sinfonica Nazionale della RAI and the Chorus of the Teatro Ventidio Basso, with the participation of some of today’s leading Rossini singers: Nicola Alaimo, Paolo Bordogna, Lawrence Brownlee, Juan Diego Flórez, Anna Goryachova, Angela Meade, Carlo Cigni, Michele Pertusi, Sergey Romanovsky and Valeria Girardello.

Beside the Overtures to Il barbiere di Siviglia and Guillaume Tell, the programme offers selections from some of the most famous Rossini operas: Figaro’s cavatina “Largo al factotum” and the arias for Bartolo (“A un dottor della mia sorte”) and the Count (“Cessa di più resistere”) from Il barbiere di Siviglia; the scena “Di che son reo?” and the duet between the Conte di Libenskof and the Marchesa Melibea “D’alma celeste, oh Dio!” from Il viaggio a Reims; the arias for Don Magnifico (“Sia qualunque delle figlie”) and for Don Ramiro (“Sì, ritrovarla io giuro”) from La Cenerentola; the Trio for Elvira, Zulma and Lindoro “Pria di dividerci da voi signore” from the first act Finale in L’Italiana in Algeri;  Pirro’s cavatina “Balena in man del figlio” and the prima donna’s great scene “Essa corre al trionfo!” from Ermione; the Duet for Tell and Arnold “Où vas tu? Quel transport t’agite?”, Tell’s air “Sois immobile”, Arnold’s aria “Asile héréditaire” with the choral stretta “Amis, amis, secondez ma vengeance” and the famous ensemble that concludes Act IV “Tout change et grandit en ces lieux” from Guillaume Tell.

The concert will be relayed live in video  in Piazza del Popolo, in collaboration with the Pesaro Town Council.
