Crescendo per Rossini, a multi-disciplinary activity aiming at promoting opera in the primary and secondary schools of the Province of Pesaro and Urbino, promoted by the Rossini Opera Festival and the Fondazione Rossini, having reached its fifth edition this year, has now been extended also to the University of Urbino.
The three organizations have, in fact, elaborated a didactic-scientific project divided into four meetings dedicated to spreading the knowledge of opera, and designed for students, teachers, and citizens. The speakers include Roberto M. Danese, teacher of Classical Philology at Urbino University; Gianfranco Mariotti, Sovrintendente of the ROF; Ernesto Palacio, Artistic Director of the ROF, Ilaria Narici, Director of the Fondazione Rossini’s critical editions.
The first meeting will be held on Thursday 2nd March at 11.00 a.m. in the Amaranta Hall of Palazzo Battiferri. The speaker will be prof. Roberto M. Danese, who will take as his theme Teatro musicale come spettacolo totale (opera as total theatre).
The series will continue with Gianfranco Mariotti, who on the 23rd March will shed light on some of the least known aspects of Rossini’s enigmatic personality. Then on the 27th April Ilaria Narici will describe the adventure of re-discovering Rossini’s forgotten scores. The last lecture of the series, on the 18th May, is entrusted to Ernesto Palacio who will discuss the opera singer as a figure.
