This week brings three important promotional opportunities for the ROF. Things begin tomorrow, Tuesday 9thJune, at 6.30 p.m. at the Italian Cultural Institute of Paris, with an evening organized in collaboration with Unitel Classica, entitled ‘Le Rossini Opera Festival à Paris’. The programme consists of a projection of Le Comte Ory (Rof 2009), planned by Lluis Pasqual, with the participation of Jean-Philippe Thiellay, State Counsellor, auxiliary Director of the Opéra National of Paris and co-author of a celebrated book on Gioachino Rossini.
The following day, Wednesday 10th June, at the Italian Cultural Institute of Hamburg, there will be another evening in the film series ‘Solo Opera’, organized together with Unitel Classica and the Hamburg Opera: at 6.30 p.m. La gazza ladra (Rof 2007) will be projected, a production by Damiano Michieletto honoured by the award of the Abbiati prize and to be revived this summer at the Rof 2015. Volker Wacher of the Hamburg Opera will speak.
Lastly, on Thursday 11th June, the second projection in the series ‘Viva Rossini’ will take place at the Italian Cultural Institute of Sydney: Il Turco in Italia will be shown at 6.00 p.m. (Rof 2007) in the production by Guido De Monticelli. This event is in collaboration with Dynamic and Opera Australia. The showing will be preceded by a presentation by the conductor Andrew Greene, head of Opera Australia’s Young Artists Program.
