At the Teatro Sperimentale, Monday the 2nd July will see the inauguration of the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda”, a permanent seminar studying thematic, vocal and dramaturgical features arising from the restoration of Rossini’s operas to the repertory, and the development of the Critical edition, which reaches its thirtieth year of prestigious activity this year. The Accademia, directed by the General Administrator of the ROF Ernesto Palacio, offers pupils and listeners lessons in vocal interpretation, musicology and acting, together with lectures and master classes.
This year 18 full pupils will participate, coming from Armenia, Romania, Bulgaria, Russia, the Ukraine, Australia, Spain, Peru and Italy, selected from 250 requests for participation arriving from all over the world. This year alsothe lessons of the AccademiaRossinianawill be followed by yet another pupil, coming from the Academy of the Bolshoi Theatre, who is benefitting from an exchange system of study grants organized by the Italian Embassy in Moscow.
Beside the lessons and the master classes held by Ernesto Palacio, musically coordinated by Rubén Sánchez-Vieco, the programme includes talks by the Honorary President of the Festival Gianfranco Mariotti, the singer and director Alfonso Antoniozzi, the musicologist and conductor Marco Mencoboni, the musicologists Federico Agostinelli and Daniele Carnini, the physiatrist Frank Musarra and the speech pathologist Franco Fussi. There will also be another master class held by the tenor Juan Diego Flórez.
At the termination of the course, on Monday 16th July at 8.00 p.m. at the TeatroSperimentale the customary Final Concert , in the course of which the pupils, accompanied at the piano by Rubén Sánchez-Vieco, will sing numbers from the Rossini operatic repertoire.
The talented young singers of the Accademia Rossiniana “Alberto Zedda” will also take part in Il viaggio a Reims, which will be staged at the Teatro Rossini on the 15th and 17th August as part of the XXXIX edition of the Rossini Opera Festival, and in a new series of Concerts from the balcony of Rossini’s birthplace.
