Gioachino Rossini is one of the most important figures in the international opera scene and he is universally recognized with his expression of Italian artistic tradition, creativity and genius.
150 years after his death, on Friday 24 August, the Italian Cultural Institute will commemorate the great composer by organizing an exhibition entitled The ROF between history and memory, curated by the Studio Amati Bacciardi. The exhibition traces the long adventure of the Rossini Opera Festival (ROF), showing the most suggestive images of the works that have made history. The images exhibited are carefully selected and presented according to a privileged and personal point of view, without aspiring to criteria of chronological or chronicological fidelity.
On the same day there will be also the screening of Il barbiere di Siviglia (the Barber of Seville) directed by Claudio Abbado under the direction of Jean-Pierre Ponnelle.
